Maja is an award-winning designer (see Studiombd.com) and founder of both Tikoli kitchenware and online hardware store (for urban doers– you’ll have to see the website to know what I’m referring to) www.machensupply.com. Maja wasn’t a huge fan of having her photo taken but we had quite a bit of fun. I’ve worked with many talented designers and art directors. It was a bit of a twist to have an art director in front of my camera rather than peering over my shoulder and directing the shoot. There was a mutual trust on both of our parts and I think that the end product was pretty powerful. I’m not sure which image Maja will choose but here are a few outtakes that I liked from our shoot. Welcome Sweet Nolan– San Francisco Newborn Photographer

Just three weeks younger than my son, I was introduced to this adorable 4 week old and I was reminded of how small and dear newborns are upon their arrival. Nolan was very alert and amazingly prehensile! I’ve never seen quite a grip on a one month old but considering he comes from a family of cross-generation SF Bay Area baseball players, I’m not surprised. I have no doubt that he’ll be in the papers some day (if they still exist) and I’ll proudly declare that I took his first photos. Thanks for your patience– you guys were wonderful to work with. Teri, my Rock!– Alameda Children’s Photographer

I am referring to my doula, Teri Nava-Anderson of HarmonyDoula.com. Teri helped to transition (no pun intended) me into my current status of mother of two (this time sans epidural) and I could not have done it without her. Teri is also the mother of two beautiful boys and I was honored to photograph the family of this woman who has come to mean so much to my family. If you plan to give birth and can budget a doula into your birth plan, I say do it! I’ve done it both ways and my experience was exponentially more relaxed (is that an oxymoron when referring to one’s labor?). Thank you for your patience– accepting calls at odd hours and the list goes on… I hope that the four of you enjoy this sneak peek. There is more to come. Happy New Year!

A Pleasant Morning at the Cove- Alameda Family Photographer

My assignment was to take a few portraits of this very lovely grandmother with her five grandchildren but this shutterbug just couldn’t contain herself once she met this cute and curious group of kids! A Stroll on the Beach– Mill Valley Family Photographer

What a lovely family! I am currently approaching my 4th month of pregnancy and at the time of this shoot I was really contemplating the possibility that I may give birth to another son and wondering (coming from a predominately female family) what brothers were like! Enter this beautiful family and I instantly became a believer! These boys were mature, respectful, loving to their parents and affectionate with one another in addition to being rugged and rambunctious as boys tend to be. What a gift it was to spend the afternoon watching this family’s dynamic! And what a gift it was to meet Kira– one of the most serendipitous acquaintances I’ve ever met. We counted five instances where we may have crossed paths (in addition to High School swim meets in Connecticut, we worked in two of the same places of employment and just missed one another by one year). Incredible that it would be this beautiful day on the beach, far from the East Coast where our paths would ultimately cross! I hope that the four of you enjoy this little preview– there’s more to come!

Weston’s Bar Mitzvah- Marin Event Photographer

The last time I photographed this family’s family portraits, the children were seven and eight years old. You can just imagine what an honor it was to be called to photograph their eldest son’s Bat Mitvah. Where does the time go? It was a joy to meet the extended family and to be present on such a special day (complete with great weather and the best Kugel on the planet). This was one of my sessions that had to be rescheduled 3 times due to colds and then the Bay Area’s “Monsoon March”! It was well worth the wait as we received a beautifully sunny day and Grandma and Grandpa were in town and got to be in a few shots as well! What a handsome family! Thanks for a great session. Wanted: A Few Sweet Newborns Contest– Bay Area Photography Contest

I am looking for three newborns and one 6 month old for test shoots. The test shoots will take place in May, June, and July. Newborn should be 7-20 days during the photo shoots. One lucky 6-8 month old will be chosen for a test shoot in July.

Test shoot will be 30 minutes- 1 hour in length and is exclusively of the newborn. The session is free and will include an 8×10 of an image of your choosing in addition to uploads on a password protected site for sharing with family and ordering additional prints (a $325 deal).

So if you or someone is expecting in the months of May, June, or July and wish to be considered for the free session, have them contact me at Photography@PhotographyByKemmeo.com. Children will be selected at random. I will submit the family name for the month designated. Drawing will take place on Friday, April 29th. For 6 month July session, please submit photos of your baby sleeping and awake! Good luck to everyone!

March Showers Brings Photo Parties- Oakland Children’s Portrait Photographer

While I love the rain and what it does to California’s breathtaking landscape, enough is enough! I have been playing Scheduling Chess with my clients all month in an effort to dodge the rain and I’ve been failing miserably. Fortunately this one occasion didn’t need to be rescheduled since it was indoors (though there was that close call with losing power due to the storm). We persevered and got some lovely photos out of the day– and the spread was to die for! Thanks for hosting, Amy and thank you to everyone who attended the party despite the rain!
